Happy November! A new month brings new opportunities to learn, grow, and celebrate the season around us! November brings cooler days, changing leaves, and time to reflect on all we’re thankful for.

From traditional art, music, and dance to Native languages, cultural practices, and stories passed down through generations, these traditions remain an important part of our lives. They reflect deep connections to family, land, identity, and those who continue to carry these traditions forward. We hope our students and families find meaningful ways to celebrate their heritage, embrace their cultural identities, and share the traditions and languages that connect generations and keep Native cultures thriving.

Due to inclement weather across the district, GMCS buses will drop off and pick up students at the nearest paved or gravel road for the week of November 2nd-6th. Please make sure to meet the bus at the nearest paved or gravel road to pick up or drop off your students.
Start adjusting bedtime routines, get plenty of rest, and be ready for a fresh start to the school week. A little preparation can make a big difference in helping students stay focused, energized, and ready to learn! Enjoy that extra hour of sleep!

Read the latest newsletter and see what's brewing across GMCS! https://gallupmckinleycsnm.edurooms.com/newsletters/gmcs/newsletters/district-newsletter-october-30-2026

Your feedback will help identify literacy needs, highlight successful efforts already happening across the state, and determine what additional resources and support are needed.
We encourage our GMCS families, staff, and community members to make their voices heard! Share your input by November 22nd!

Example: Our school is beautiful because of the people who fill it with kindness and joy. What is something beautiful you noticed today?

Know your goals — Keep your future in mind when making choices today.
Choose positive friends — Surround yourself with people who support and encourage you.
Speak up — If you’re uncomfortable or pressured, confidently say no and walk away.
Talk to someone you trust — You never have to handle a tough situation alone.
Be a positive influence — Encourage your friends to make healthy choices, too.

Greet someone with a big "Yá'át'ééh abíní" to start the day off with kindness and connection!

What is one way you encourage the young people in your life to make healthy, positive choices?
Together, we can create a community where every student feels supported, empowered, and confident in making choices that help them thrive.

See (verb) — to notice, look at, or become aware of something with your eyes.
Example: "I can't wait to see my teachers and friends at school today!"
